When their homes were torn down, where did all the Brooklyn residents go?
Many of the hundreds of Brooklyn families moved into white neighborhoods Many of those same families bought homes in areas not far in other growing areas such as Lincoln Heights, Beatties Ford Rd., Wesley Heights, Northwood Estates,
Lincoln Heights, and Druid Hills. This led to a gradual change in the racial makeup of Charlotte's inner-city neighborhoods. Looks like the good old saying of "white-flight" is correct because, today in the areas that where once white neighborhoods upon the movement of the Brooklyn residents these neighborhoods gradually became black. So even though the Brooklyn neighborhood was razed in efforts of urban removal. Residents found new life and opportunities on the "River of Life" which is Beatties Ford Rd.
